Facebook Name Policy

So, You can’t just change your name to anything. You need to follow the rules, and Facebook has defined them clearly what you can and can’t include in your name. Well, The number one rule is that you can’t choose a name that isn’t yours. Don’t pretend to be someone else because if you are caught, or someone complains, your profile will be deactivated without intimation. Facebook blocked over 4.5 billion accounts in the first nine months of 2020 alone. Lots of them were bots, but many were fake accounts too.

Some other rules:

  • It is challenging to use offensive or suggestive terms
  • The number, icons, punctuations and uncommon capitalisation cannot be included.
  • Can’t use various language characters
  • Instead of a name, you cannot use words or phrases
  • You can’t use names you have, including technical or religious titles
  • The name that you have on your ID card ought to be your Facebook name.
  • Nicknames are permitted, but only as a middle name if the actual name is used.
  • You can add your nickname separately (we will discuss that later below)
  • Can’t use your profile’s company name. Build a website instead of companies

Facebook has a list of valid and appropriate identity cards but can differ somewhat according to your nationality country. Most of us have a driver’s license or a birth certificate at least. Both are real. Both are valid.

If you have made it in the last 60 days or less, or if you have changed it regularly, you cannot change your Facebook name. If Facebook has asked you to confirm your identity and has failed to send one, you cannot change your name.

And this is it. And this is it. On Facebook, you are willing to change your name. Those laws, who knew!

Change Your Name on Facebook on Web

Open your Facebook account and sign in. Click on the downward arrow and pick Privacy > Settings > General and you can find your name in the right-hand corner with an Edit button.

Have you found the Add other names under the note option? This is where you can add additional characters if you want to add a pen name or another name. However, on this screen, the word appearing on your ID should be entered.

For Android users, the measures will remain the same. Open Facebook, and in the lower right corner of the page, you can find the menu icon.

Once again, the same framework will be followed by Privacy and Settings > Sets > Personal Details > Name.

Change Your Name on Facebook

Enter your name and any names you may like. The policy specifics of the 60-day change of name are visible. When you’re done to save changes, tap Check changes.

  • Recover Deleted Emails in Gmail

Final Words: Change Your Name on Facebook

On your Facebook profile, I’ll recommend you insert your legal name. The name of your stage or nickname may be used, but this should be your middle name or other names. If you’re an artist, instead of a profile, you can create a Facebook page, so things work differently. The naming policy on Facebook pages is not the same for brands, corporations and government officials.
