How to Fix MicroSD Card Error on Your Smartphone

There is a Variation of reasons why a MicroSD Card Error will occur. Hither is some of the most common issues associated with microSD card problems on your smartphone and the ways to fix them.

When dealing with the errors on your smartphone and peripherals, it is crucial to start with the apparent problems. So, A damaged microSD card might be a reason why it won’t work on your smartphone. This is not uncommon for circuits on an electronic device to be damaged when it is exposed to factors like heat or water, Therefore look for signs of any physical damage when the card isn’t working.

As well, One thing you can do to test if the microSD card is broken is to insert it into other devices. Suppose it won’t work in those other devices, then the microSD card is most probably broken. You can replace it with another one. 

Wrong Format.

Proper/improper formatting is another common reason why microSD cards won’t work in a smartphone. If you are confident that the card isn’t broken, Thus it still cannot be read by your Smartphone, you may need to format it. Now, This is a step-by-step guide on how to perform the formatting on your microSD card:

  • Download a microSD card formatted on your computer.
  • Launch the program & select the corresponding SD card drive.
  • At the ‘Size’ box, select the number indicated as the max size.
  • Click ‘Start’. Wait until this formatting is completed before you remove the microSD card from your PC.

Factory Reset For Android Phones

To perform this factory reset, here are the steps you need to follow:

  • Go to ‘Settings’ and choose ‘Backup and Reset’.
  • From there, select ‘Factory Reset’.
  • Suppose you are performing the step, you must remember this password to your Google or Samsung account in this event of a Factory Reset Protection Lock. This is also good practice to perform a backup of all files stored on your smartphone. Now, You will be losing all of these files when you execute the factory reset.

Step 1:

  1. Go to ‘Computer’ and choose ‘System Properties’.
  2. Go to the ‘Device Manager’ on your computer’s taskbar. Choose ‘USB Controller’ & Click on the ‘+’ button. This will reveal a yellow exclamation mark. Right-click on that icon and choose ‘Update Driver Software’. Lastly, click on the option to ‘Automatically Search for Driver Software Online’.
  3. Wait until the driver has finished installing. Once that is done, reboot your computer. Now, Try re-connecting your microSD card again if it works.

Step 2:

  • From the ‘Start’ button, choose ‘Control Panel’.
  • Go to ‘Administrative Tools’ and select ‘Computer Management’.
  • A window will open. From there, go to ‘Disk Management’ and select ‘MicroSD Card’ from the drive viewer.
  • Choose ‘Format’, & it will automatically reformat your microSD card.

Step 3:

  1. Click on ‘Windows Key + X’ button, & it will provide you with a power user menu.
  2. From there, go to ‘Command Prompt (Admin)’. Select the ‘Yes’ button, and you will be asked permission to launch the ‘Command Prompt’ as an administrator.
  3. Once the ‘Command Prompt’ Here window is live, type this here: “chkdsk E: /f /r /x” (Note This: Replace E with the MicroSD card letter).

Fix and Clean Connections

One microSD card that is filled with dust & debris can also become faulty. Well, Make sure this is not what is causing issues on your microSD card when you insert it in your smartphone. Now, Remove the microSD card from its slot and then clear any dirt or dust.

So, Make sure that the card is not slightly bent, too. Check that the card is aligned correctly to fit the sim card tray. This is also a good idea to do this regularly. This will assist in eliminating any issues that might be associated with a faulty memory card.
