VR Oculus Quest 2: How to Setup Oculus Link

Oculus Quest 2

Oculus Link is an excellent way to play games on your headset that isn’t available in the Oculus store. It’s a very convenient way to diversify your VR game options. To connect your headset via Link, you will first require, well, a link! To put it another way, a cable. Oculus sells its version of the link cable, but it’s pretty expensive, so you don’t need to spend that much money. Any USB-A/USB-C or USB 3 USB-C cable will suffice. Check that it’s long enough to reach from your PC’s preferred port to your play area. You will want to be able to spin in a circle while wearing it! So, In this guide, I will discuss VR Oculus Quest 2 and how to set up Oculus Link quickly.

Making the Connection

The next step is to launch the Oculus Quest app on your computer. If you don’t already have it, you can get it here for free. Install the PC version, start it, and plug in your headset.

Afterward, connect the cable to your PC and then to your headset. Put on the headset.

You’ll be prompted to activate Oculus Link. Wait a few seconds after clicking Enable for the Link environment (a small apartment) to load.

Tip: Don’t be concerned if you miss the prompt or select the incorrect option. Disconnecting and reconnecting the cable will cause it to reappear as needed.

Launching from the Menu

Don’t worry if the prompt to activate Link does not appear for some reason. You can always do it manually as long as the cable is plugged in and Oculus is installed and running on your PC.

Tap the Oculus button on your right controller to do so. Then, with the menu open, go to Settings – you’ll see an option labeled ‘Oculus Link.’ Click on it at any time to enable the connection using the same prompt as above!

Tip: If you are in the Link view in your headset and want to exit, press the Oculus button on the right controller to bring up the menu. It will look different, but on the far left, you will see the disabled Link option.

You will be asked to confirm. When you’ve disconnected, you can reconnect using the menu as described above, or you can unplug and replug your cable. Next, you’ll be asked if you want Link to relaunch automatically in this manner.

Tip: You can decorate this apartment however you want, with whatever you want. Let me know what kind of design your Link room has!
